      Objective To explore the effect of applying mind map to improve the discharge readiness of elderly patients with total hip replacement. Methods Divided 80 elderly patients who has undergone total hip replacement into control group (n=40) and intervention group (n=40) by randomly number table method according to the last two digits of their hospital number. The control group will implement traditional health education; the intervention group will implement mind map health education. The difference of discharge readiness, Harris hip score, daily living ability, hospital stays, postoperative complications and readmission rate will be compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the intervention group"s discharge readiness, Harris hip score, daily living ability, hospital stays, postoperative complications and readmission rate at 1 and 3 months after discharge, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) . Conclusion Mind map education is an effective health education tool, which can not only effectively improve the discharge readiness, accelerate the hip function recovery of patients after total hip replacement, but also reduce the incidence of postoperative complications and readmissions, enhance their self-care ability.
