| Established in 1978, World Council of Enterostomal Therapists? (WCET?) is a non-profit organization registered in UK. Its sacred mission is to lead a global development of specialized and professional nursing cares for enterostomy, wound and continence needs. Initially WCET? was devoted exclusively to enterostomal nursing care. Through constant developments over many years, wound and continence needs have been integrated. In December 2022, WCET? International Ostomy Guideline-2nd edition was promulgated for offering evidence-based nursing recommendations for patients undergoing current or planned enterosomal procedures. Based upon its first edition of WCET? International Ostomy Guideline, it provided updating and assessing of researches and publications since its inception in 2014. Applicable to all recipients of enterostomal nursing services under various nursing environments in all countries and regions, 2020 Edition of WCET? International Ostomy Guideline contains the relevant information of culture, religion and ethnicity of global ostomic patients. It facilitates practicing nurses in formulating proper nursing protocols in light of cultural, religious and ethnic factors. The present interpretation is designed to summarize the essentials of promulgation background, overall objectives, expert recommendations, evidence evaluations, practical implementations, cultural, religious and social factors of WCET? members, supplements, jargons and definitions, etc. And the goal is to help the specialists, organizations, patients and caretakers of enterostomal nursing care better grasp the core stipulations of the Guideline so as to further boost the qualities of ostomy nursing and enhance the quality-of-life of ostomic patients. |
